Privacy Policy

Mobile Application: Yuna

Effective Date

February 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Yuna App collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you access or use the Yuna mobile application and related services (collectively, the "App").

Summary

The App is a wellness and nutrition tracking tool that may allow you to log food, calories, macros, habits, and other wellness-related information. You may optionally connect with dietitians for general educational guidance.

  • We collect information you provide (such as account details and logs) and information generated by your use of the App.
  • We use information to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the App.
  • Dietitians can view your information only if you explicitly approve access within the App, and you can revoke access at any time.
  • Purchases are processed by Apple or Google; we receive limited purchase metadata needed to operate subscriptions.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Email address (used for authentication and account management).
  • Meal logs, such as foods you log, calories, macros, meal notes, and related entries.
  • Uploaded meal photos, which you may provide to log meals or receive AI-powered nutritional analysis.
  • Voice input, which you may use to log meals or interact with the App via speech.
  • Wellness and habit data, such as habits, streaks, check-ins, and other wellness-related tracking information.
  • Communications, such as messages or requests you send to us or (if enabled) messages exchanged with dietitians.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage analytics, such as screens viewed, features used, actions taken, timestamps, and general app performance metrics.
  • Subscription status, including your current plan, renewal state, and entitlement information.
  • Device and technical data, such as device type, operating system version, app version, language, and general diagnostics.

Information From Third Parties

  • Authentication providers (Apple and Google Sign In) may provide us with your name and email address when you choose to sign in using their services.
  • App Store purchase metadata from Apple App Store or Google Play (for example, subscription status, renewal state, and other non-sensitive purchase indicators).

How We Collect Information

We collect information through the following methods:

  • User input — information you type or enter directly into the App.
  • Image upload — meal photos you capture or upload for nutritional analysis.
  • Voice recording — audio input you provide to log meals or interact with the App.
  • Authentication providers (Apple/Google) — account credentials and profile information provided during sign-in.
  • Supabase backend — data generated and stored as part of the App’s backend infrastructure.

How We Use Information

We use information for purposes such as:

  • Providing, operating, and maintaining the App and its features.
  • Creating and managing your account and authenticating access.
  • Enabling logging, tracking, streaks, insights, and personalization within the App.
  • Enabling and administering user-approved access for dietitians (if you opt in).
  • Processing subscription status and providing access to paid features.
  • Improving performance, troubleshooting, and preventing fraud or abuse.
  • Communicating with you about updates, security, support, and policy changes.
  • Complying with legal obligations and enforcing our rights and agreements.

We aim to incorporate general privacy-law concepts (such as purpose limitation and data minimization) without making representations that the App is formally compliant with any specific law or framework.

Dietitian Access and Sharing (Opt-In)

The App may offer the option to connect with dietitians for general educational guidance. Dietitian access to your information is opt-in and occurs only if you explicitly approve access within the App.

  • Explicit approval required: A dietitian cannot view your information unless you affirmatively grant access.
  • Revocation: You can revoke a dietitian’s access at any time within the App. After revocation, dietitian access should end, though the dietitian may retain information previously accessed as permitted by their own policies and applicable law.
  • Independent third parties: Dietitians are independent third parties and are not our employees. They may be subject to separate professional obligations, policies, and legal requirements.

You are responsible for deciding whether to share information with a dietitian and what information to provide.

How We Share Information

We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • With dietitians, only when you explicitly approve access within the App (as described above).
  • With service providers that process information on our behalf to operate the App (see below).
  • For legal and safety reasons, such as to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our agreements, protect the rights and safety of users, or prevent fraud and abuse.
  • Business transfers, such as in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.

We do not sell your personal information in the ordinary sense of "sale" for monetary consideration.

Service Providers and Infrastructure

We use third-party vendors and service providers to help us operate the App. These providers may process information on our behalf and under our instructions. We share information with the following third parties:

  • OpenAI for AI-powered nutritional analysis of meal photos, voice input, and food log data.
  • Supabase for data storage, backend services, and user authentication.
  • RevenueCat for subscription management, purchase validation, and entitlement tracking.
  • Apple/Google for Sign In authentication and App Store/Google Play purchase processing.
  • Analytics and diagnostics providers (if enabled) to measure usage and improve reliability.

These third-party providers are contractually obligated to maintain confidentiality and provide equal or greater data protection.

We may update our providers over time. Where appropriate, we limit provider access to what is reasonably necessary to perform services for us.

AI Processing

Yuna uses a third-party AI service (OpenAI) to analyze:

  • Food images uploaded by the user.
  • Voice input provided by the user.
  • Meal descriptions entered by the user.

This data is sent securely for the sole purpose of generating nutrition and calorie insights. Yuna does not sell user data, and the AI provider does not retain or use the data for training. All third-party services provide data protection equal to or exceeding applicable privacy standards.

Subscriptions and Purchases

Subscriptions and purchases are handled through the Apple App Store and/or Google Play. We do not receive your full payment card details. We may receive limited purchase metadata (for example, subscription status and renewal state) to provide access to paid features, for accounting purposes, and to prevent fraud.

Analytics, Cookies, and Tracking

The App may use analytics SDKs or similar technologies to understand how users interact with the App and to improve performance. Depending on your device settings and the technologies used, these may involve identifiers that are stored on your device.

If the App uses cookie-like technologies on the web (for example, on a related website), those technologies may be used for similar purposes such as analytics, security, and feature functionality.

You may be able to limit certain analytics or tracking through device-level settings, operating system controls, or in-app settings where provided.

Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the App, maintain business records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and the context in which it was collected.

You may request deletion as described below. Some information may be retained where required or permitted by law or for legitimate business purposes (for example, security logs, fraud prevention, and compliance).

Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information.

  • Our backend is powered by Supabase.
  • We use industry-standard encryption in transit (e.g., TLS) and encryption at rest where supported by our providers.
  • Access controls, authentication, and row-level security are enforced to help limit unauthorized access.

However, no system can be guaranteed 100% secure. You use the App at your own risk, and you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and securing your devices.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable law, you may have rights and choices regarding your information, including:

  • Request access to certain information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of certain information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing in some circumstances.
  • Withdraw consent for certain processing where consent is the basis (for example, dietitian access).

To submit a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

International Data Transfers

We may process and store information in countries other than your own, including where our service providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred internationally as necessary to provide the App.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated policy will be effective as of the "Effective Date" above. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective indicates that you have read and understood the updated policy.
